After West Ham confirmed the signing of Lucas Perez from Arsenal, the club’s director of football Mario Husillos has worked miracles this summer.

The Hammers confirmed the signing of Perez from Arsenal on their official Twitter account.

The Spanish striker joins the London Stadium outfit on a three-year deal from the North London club.

This deal is just the latest in a series of masterstroke signings that Husillos made so far this summer and he has more than justified the club’s decision to hire him.

The Argentine transfer guru was appointed as the club’s new director of football in June this year.

He also worked with the club’s new manager Manuel Pellegrini in Spain at one of his former clubs Malaga, in what was a great spell of success for the La Liga outfit.

Husillos has arrived this summer and overseen a number of impressive and ambitious signings that have excited the Hammers fans and have attracted the attention of the footballing world.

So far this summer, the London club have signed the likes of Jack Wilshere, Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson, Issa Diop, Fabian Balbuena, Lukasz Fabianski, Ryan Fredericks and now Lucas Perez.

These eight new signings might have cost a pretty penny, but all these new signings have transformed the club from relegation candidates to European hopefuls.

When you consider other deals that have been done so far this summer, including Chelsea’s purchase of Athletic Bilbao goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga for a reported £72million, West Ham have spent just over that amount transforming their team rather than splashing it on a single player.

Time will tell of course how these new signings settle into the club and into Premier League football, but what is for certain is that the Hammers fans can finally be optimistic and excited about the club’s prospects this season, and that’s all down to Husillos.
