OPINION
West Ham must hijack Fulham and Wolves’ battle to sign Manchester City midfielder Oleksandr Zinchenko as the 21-year-old would flourish at the London Stadium.
The Telegraph reported on Thursday that the Cottagers had entered a bidding war with Wolves over the 21-year-old left-footed dazzler with both Premier League sides keen on signing him.
The newspaper stated that Wolves were already discussing a potential £16million deal with Man City for their player with Fulham currently deciding whether to offer more than £16million for Zinchenko.
The Hammers should look to ruin both club’s plans to sign the talented 21-year-old and use Manuel Pellegrini’s Man City contacts to see them easily hijack the race for Zinchenko’s signature.
The Daily Mirror previously reported that Pellegrini could use his Man City contacts to make the Hammers stronger in the summer transfer window as he previously won the Premier League title with them.
Given that Man City no doubt still think highly of their former boss then they may be willing to aid a West Ham pursuit of Zinchenko rather than sell him to Wolves or Fulham.
Zinchenko would be a fantastic signing for the Hammers to make this summer as no only is he set to improve due to his age, his versatility means he’ll be able to instantly be an asset at the London Stadium.
The 21-year-old showcased his ability to play as a left-back for Man City last season as he made eight appearances in the league for them in that position.
Zinchenko can also feature as centre-midfielder, attacking midfielder, defensive midfielder as well as play on either flank.
The 21-year-old is capable of being a force to be reckoned with in England’s top-flight if given more of an opportunity as his dazzling dribbling ability, noteworthy pace and bags of skills have seen him previously look a very promising prospect.
Therefore the Hammers must use Pellegrini to easily hijack the reported battle for Zinchenko’s services as the versatile dazzle would provide great cover for the team while also being able to have a positive impact when played.
