West Ham should get themselves out of the race for Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro as he is likely to be sold way above the amount he is worth.

The 25-year-old’s agent did an interview with JuveNews and claimed that the Hammers were one of the sides that had put in an offer in to sign his client.

“In football everything can happen,” said Carlo Volpi, Sturaro’s agent.

“Because in fact there are a lot of offers.

“There are not only the big West Ham and Leicester, but at least four other 4 clubs interested in my client, who does not have a favourite destination, just wait for a decision by the Juventus club.”

This isn’t the first time that Manuel Pellegrini has been linked to the midfield destroyer as TuttoSport previously reported that the Hammers had tabled a £17.4million proposal in order to try and acquire his services this summer.

However hopefully it is the last as Sturaro isn’t needed at the London Stadium when you consider that it will take a big-money deal, given the interest in him, to win the race for him.

The 25-year-old struggled to impress at Juventus last season and managed to make only 12 Serie A appearances for them.

The tough-tackling no-nonsense midfield enforcer previously looked like having a bright future at Juventus but it’s fair to say that he has failed to progress as much as he should have in the latest couple of campaigns.

While Pellegrini would probably be able to get the best out him and would benefit from having a defence-minded midfielder such as Sturaro in his squad, the Hammers can cope without him.

It seems Juventus are benefiting from the player’s previously promising reputation in the game in order to demand such a huge fee for his services.

There may be some clubs willing to gamble on Sturaro looking like the player he was previously expected to be but the Hammers don’t need to take that risk after already investing heavily in new recruits.

Therefore if there is any offer still left on the table by the Hammers for the midfielder then the club should quickly withdraw it as following the claims of Sturaro’s agents, he is not going to be worth battling over.
