West Ham must abandon their pursuit of Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri after a report stated that he was not keen on joining the Hammers due to their current standing.

The Hammers were reported as being in pole position for the 26-year-old central midfielder’s services by Tuttomercatoweb despite there being a lot of club’s in the hunt to sign him.

Yet Nice-Martin claim that while Seri is very attracted by the idea of playing in the Premier League he is not keen on joining a club of West Ham’s standing and prefers a club like Chelsea.

The French football site lists Arsenal and the Blues as the other Premier League clubs linked to the midfielder and it seems Seri would rather join a club in the top-six.

Given that the same report suggests that Nice want 40 million euros (£35.2million) the Hammers shouldn’t waste their time convincing the midfielder to join them as he will quickly be looking to leave as soon as he arrives.

Manuel Pellegrini shouldn’t be tempted to try and change Seri’s mind over his stance on the Hammers even if Arsenal and Chelsea don’t swoop for his services.

According to Nice-Martin’s update Nice are yet to receive any concrete offers for their midfielder and if the Hammers were the only English top-flight side to bid then perhaps Seri would soon jump at the chance to rock up at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old is a fabulous talent as he is a brilliant passer of the ball shown by his ability to register seven assists in his 31 outings last season.

Seri has racked up a total of 23 assists in the 123 games he has played in for Nice and his knack for consistently finding his teammates with his passes would see him be a force in the Premier League.

However Pellegrini needs players that believe in the cause if he is to revolutionise the club’s fortunes on the pitch and lead the club to a brighter future.

If Seri clearly thinks he can do better than joining the Hammers already then he will simply jump ship at the first opportunity to join a more desirable side, in his opinion, as soon as one comes along if he was signed by Pellegrini this summer.

This means that the Hammers should abandon their pursuit of the pass master as clearly his stance on joining makes him a player not worth spending a huge amount of money and time on trying to sign.
