West Ham are in a four horse race for Liverpool attacker Danny Ings, according to the Daily Mirror.

The national newspaper claim that the Hammers along with Newcastle United, Crystal Palace and Southampton are interested in the 25-year-old striker who has a £20million price tag attached to him.

The Mirror report that Klopp will allow Ings to leave Anfield this summer after injuries saw him make only three Premier League starts last season.

Following the injury to Andy Carroll then Manuel Pellegrini could do with welcoming a new attacker but Ings isn’t the answer. The forward whose current Reds deal sees him earn £60,000-a-week (Source: Total Sportek) is too injury prone for the Hammers to rely on in the upcoming season. If Ings is brought in to cover the absence of Carroll then it is easy to imagine that Ings could soon find himself alongside the current Hammers forward in the medical room. While the 25-year-old Reds forward has proven his ability in the Premier League previously, mainly with Burnley, given his price tag there are better options for the Hammers to consider. Also given that there are also three other sides in the hunt for Ings’ services then the Hammers should quickly withdraw from the race and let one of their Premier League rivals take a risk by signing the injury-prone attacker this summer. Manuel Pellegrini has seen the Hammers do fantastic business in the transfer window this summer and a swoop for Ings could be his first bad signing if the club continue to be interested.
