West Ham football of director Mario Husillos has made it clear that Javier Hernandez is staying put at the club this summer and teed him up to have a great 2018/19 season.

The 59-year-old spoke about the Mexican forward during a recent interview with Marca Claro and shared his excitement about the player being at the club as he suggested he’d work well within Manuel Pellegrini’s system.

“We have many expectations. offers, surely there will not be any because people know that we have him, for the moment, it’s not in the market at all,” Husillos told the Mexican publication.

“It is a style (Pellegrini’s) that favors all attack players, because it is to maintain possession, attack, reach the area and try to create opportunities, the forwards in general are benefited by this type of game”

The football director has publicly backed Hernandez to flourish under Pellegrini at the London Stadium in the upcoming season with his remarks and the 30-year-old attacker simply has to repay the faith shown in him by Husillos and others at the club.

Hernandez joined the Hammers last season and it’s fair to say his debut campaign was a disappointment.

The 30-year-old despite his proven track record in the Premier League struggled to rack up the goals for the Hammers as he only managed to score 8 in 28 appearances.

When you consider that two of Hernandez’s eight goals came in the second game of the 2017/18 campaign against Southampton, it makes his tally look even worse.

It would have been a very easy decision to bin the forward this summer as by the end of last season he was no longer a guaranteed starter and is on a big pay packet considering he takes home £140,000-a-week (Source: Spotrac)

However clearly Husillos and Pellegrini believe that was due to the way the Hammers were playing rather than Hernandez being completely at fault for his own poor form.

The 30-year-old will be left with no excuse in his 2018/19 campaign if he fails to deliver the goods as it seems likely that Pellegrini will be setting up his team to play a style that will suit Hernandez.

Therefore the experienced attacker must repay the faith shown in him by the Hammers to be kept around by delivering the goods in his 2018/19 season as he won’t have any excuse this time around.
