West Ham are in talks with the representatives of South American midfielder Miguel Almiron over a potential £10million deal, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that while the Hammers are discussing the attacking midfielder’s future with his representation, his current club Atlanta United are determined to keep hold of their star player until the end of the MLS season.

The Sun report that Atlanta therefore might considering selling Almiron in the New Year but that the Hammers will face a battle trying to convince them to sell him sooner.

OPINION

Almiron would be a fantastic signing for Manuel Pellegrini to make especially if the Hammers are able to sign him for £10million anytime soon. The 24-year-old has scored eight goals, while assisting 11, in the 21 appearances he has made in the MLS this year and is clearly a player capable of being the Hammers’ attacking spark if signed. The Sun’s report interestingly states that the Hammers had checked out the player before, two years ago, but opted not to make a bid for him at that time. However it seems that the Hammers might rightly be looking to splash the cash on the attacking midfielder who has lit up the MLS so far this season. While a deal is probably not on the cards this summer as Atlanta are right to be stubborn about holding on to him, the player must stay on the Hammers’ radar. With Newcastle United also thought to be interested in the midfielder then the Hammers need to ensure they constantly keep tabs on his progress so they don’t miss out.
