OPINION

It seems the race for the Hammers’ 26-year-old midfielder is heating up as teams are preparing to duel for his services. Bergamo Corriere Della Sera previously reported that Atalanta had made an offer for Obiang’s services, even if a poor one, and it seems Sampdoria will have to move fast in order to secure the return of their former star. As interest in the midfielder grows it seems more and more likely that the Hammers will decide to part with the player. Sky Sports previously claimed the Hammers would listen to offers for him and based on the growing interest in him then it’s only a matter of time before someone makes a respectable offer for his services. While Obiang is reportedly keen to move back to Sampdoria, it will be a shame to see him go. The 26-year-old showed glimpses of how good he could be last season during in his 27 appearances but injury kept him rooted on the sidelines for a significant period of time. With Manuel Pellegrini making several signings to put his own mark on the Hammers then Obiang unfortunately might be packing his bags to make way for the club’s latest recruits.
