It appears that Josh Cullen has done enough to challenge for a place in the first-team next season, after it was reported that the fan would be sold this summer.
The 22-year-old has a reprieve for now, but he’s not set to be offered a new contract yet, and it is claimed that a final decision will be made by Pellegrini soon after he impressed in pre-season training.
ExWHUemployee, a Twitter account with close links to the club, reported a fortnight ago that it looked like the player was on his way out.

However, on Wednesday, Sky Sports claimed that Pellegrini had knocked back several offers for the 22-year-old midfielder, who came up the youth ranks at West Ham and has made nine senior appearances.
And now, ExWHUemployee has stated that this is true but that a decision hadn’t yet been made by Pellegrini.
He claimed that the final Pellegrini decision would come soon but added that it was looking “hopeful” for the player who is a West Ham fan.
This is now being picked up by other “sources” but it seems he really has done enough to earn a place at the club in Pellegrini’s eyes as we have turned down offers for him. A final decision will be made soon but it’s looking hopeful for the West Ham fan ⚒ https://t.co/Y2zCnxtUJe

West Ham fans will hope Cullen gets a chance next season. They would love the West Ham fan, brought up through the ranks, to get a chance to play among all the blockbuster players that Pellegrini has signed to the club this summer. It seems like he’s really grasped the bull by the horns in pre-season, faced with the prospect of being sold from the club he loves. However, he still has more to do by the sounds of it. Cullen got a chance earlier this year when he played three FA Cup games and made two cameo appearances in the Premier League. That wasn’t the best time to try to get noticed, with the fans and board clashing and pressure levels high at the London Stadium. Pellegrini has brought a new calm with him, along with some fantastic new players, and Cullen will be desperate to take his place among them. His contract expires next summer though so it’s make or break time. He’ll either get a new contract offer and his dreams of becoming a West Ham star will live on. Or he’ll be moved on this summer.
