West Ham United have spent an awful lot of money this summer, they must sell Javier Hernandez to make room for other signings.

As reported by trusted West Ham Twitter source ExWHUemployee, Hammers manager Manuel Pellegrini wants to keep senior player Hernandez this season and ‘play him correctly’.

The Chilean couldn’t be more wrong, he must sell Javier Hernandez.

Firstly, Hernandez is a really good player. He’s got a great goalscoring record in English football, scoring 45 goals in 131 Premier League appearances is not a bad record for someone who largely comes off the bench. However, he’s more of a poacher type goalscorer who doesn’t really get involved in the build-up play and is more likely to stay around the area to sniff out chances.

That’s a really good quality for an impact sub, but for someone who will be starting every game and playing in Pellegrini’s possession-based system, ‘Chicharito’ is going to struggle.

It might seem harsh to sell the player when he’s not really been given a full season of regular football, but with the new manager’s style of football, he just won’t fit in.

It’s purely business and that’s how The Hammers need to view this if they want to take the upcoming campaign seriously. Marko Arnautovic played the majority of games up front for West Ham last season, so the Mexican is by no means first-choice, he is a valuable asset that can be sold for a decent amount.

With the standard of the players that have been brought in this summer, it would be a shame if The Hammers went into the new season with Arnautovic and the 30-year-old as their only forward options. The money that they receive for Hernandez can then be reinvested in another striker who fits the system, and the club will be much better off for it.
