West Ham fans are mainly jubilant on social media after hearing that a deal for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere is getting closer, according to a club insider.
ExWHUEmployee, a reliable man in the know in the East End of London, revealed on his official Twitter feed that the England midfielder who is available on a free transfer after rejecting the Gunners’ offers, could become a Hammer.
Yes it’s getting closer! Great signing I think https://t.co/Z8EkGy1OqB

The 26-year-old midfielder made a total of 40 appearances for the North Londoners last season, scoring twice and assisting seven as Arsene Wenger’s side ended the season in sixth position.
But despite the fact that the player has been plagued by injuries throughout his career, the West Ham faithful were by and large thrilled to hear that the midfielder could be set to join their club.
One supporter described the transfer as a “no brainer,” referring to the fact that the Stevenage-born ace is out of contract and available on a free transfer, while another fan pleaded, “Please please make it happen.”
West Ham have been making great strides in the transfer market this summer having already landed Issa Diop, Ryan Fredericks as well as Lukasz Fabianski, and the Guardian report that Wilshere will be offered a three-year deal at the London Stadium.
Here is a selection of reactions on social media from supporters after hearing the news on the midfielder:

Just hope this happens. Massive fan of Jack. He reminds a bit of Moncs.

OPINION:
It is no surprise to see such jubilant reactions from the West Ham faithful. Wilshere offers them something that has been missing from their team for years. His ability to run with the ball has similarities to Paul Gascoigne and had he had better luck with injuries, could have been a more prominent figure in the game. But at 26, he still has plenty of life left in him yet and the fact that he is available on a free transfer makes him a real bargain – no wonder that for the most part, West Ham fans were excited to hear the insider’s update.
