A section of West Ham fans have taken to Twitter to express their astonishment at the £10million price tag the club has reportedly slapped on midfielder Cheikhou Kouyate, after Crystal Palace begun talks over a transfer.
Sky Sports have relayed on their Twitter account today that the Eagles are in talks with the Hammers over a potential transfer for the Senegal international.
The 28-year-old enforcer was a mainstay in the Irons’ team under former boss David Moyes last season, who handed him 37 appearances in all competitions.

His worst trait last season was his laziness/unwillingness to track back. Bite your hand off for £10m plus add-one

On his day he is absolutely class. £10m is a ridiculous price worth double in today’s market

£10m, are we serious. Why are we letting our players go for peanuts. Say what you want about him, but he is £15m at least in today’s market.

OPINION
Cheikhou Kouyate has been a mainstay in the West Ham first team so it is no wonder that some of the fans are baffled as to why the club are only demanding £10million for his services. David Moyes obviously viewed him as a key asset in the team, but based on these tweets it is evident that Manuel Pellegrini does not. However, they can’t have it both ways. A fair number of West Ham fans are actually happy he’s leaving and don’t think he’s good enough to play under Pellegrini’s West Ham. If that’s the case, then surely it’s worth taking the £10million, banking it and using it to bring someone else in? West Ham will still be making a profit on a player who signed for £7million in 2014.
