West Ham United have entered talks with QPR over a potential loan exit for striker Jordan Hugill, according to a reliable journalist.

Alan Nixon, football correspondent at The Sun, reported on his personal Twitter account on Sunday morning that a loan deal was on the cards between the two sides.

When asked by a fan whether there had been an offer made yet for the 26-year-old, Nixon replied that there had been discussions taking place between the two clubs.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes.

Hugill will be given a chance to impress Manuel Pellegrini in pre-season, but is likely to be deemed surplus to requirements by the Chilean.

The powerful striker has had a tough time of things at the London Stadium since his £10million move from Preston North End in January, and a loan move away looks to be the best option for all parties.

This way the Hammers keep hold of him in case he finds his form once again in the Championship, while offloading his wages to QPR, who would be getting a proven second-tier striker in return.

Likely to happen?

QPR are one of the first teams to be linked to Hugill this summer, and therefore look to be in a good position to secure his signature.

However, a deal will likely have to wait a couple of weeks as the Hammers first-team squad fly out to Switzerland for pre-season training, with Hugill sure to join them.

If Pellegrini then decides to let him leave, the door will be open for QPR to make a concrete offer.
