With recent media reports linking Robert Snodgrass with a return to Villa Park, West Ham must give him a chance to revive his Hammers career.

As reported by the Birmingham Mail, Villa manager Steve Bruce is keen on a reunion with Snodgrass after spending last season on loan at Villa Park.

The report claims that should the Hammers decide to sell Snodgrass, Bruce’s side would be the favourites for his signature.

If this move was to happen, it would be another strange chapter in Robert Snodgrass’ West Ham Story.

The 30-year-old was signed by the Hammers for £10.2million in January 2017, after impressing in his stint at Hull City, but has made just 15 appearances for the club since then after former manager Slaven Bilic consistently played him out of position, somewhat unknowingly.

The Scotland international is clearly at his best when playing on the right-hand side, so he can cut on to his strong right foot and either have an effort at goal or try to find one of his teammates. However, Bilic seemed to get confused as to his best position and only played him in that position in seven of his 15 appearances for the club that season. How truly bizarre.

He was then sent out on loan to Aston Villa in the Championship despite being more than good enough to play Premier League football, after proving his quality at Hull City in the first half of the 2016/17 PL season. As you would have guessed, the Scot was in excellent form in the second-tier, scoring eight goals and providing 13 assists, which are very good numbers for a wide player.

Snodgrass has done more than enough to earn a shot at The London Stadium, he’s proven his quality time and time again. However, with the signings of Felipe Anderson and Andriy Yarmolenko, you get the feeling his days are numbered. Manuel Pellegrini needs to stick with him and see what he’s capable of, he deserves that at the very least.
