With West Ham looking reportedly likely to sign Oleksandr Zinchenko, they must avoid signing the midfielder this summer.

As reported by Football Whispers. West Ham are likely to sign Manchester City midfielder Zinchenko this summer.

Football Whispers is a website that calculates the chances of a player joining certain clubs depending on the number of rumours they receive. The higher they score a player, the more likely they deem a move to be. Zinchenko scored 2.4 out of five via the Football Whispers system which means, according to the website, he is the third most likely player to move to West Ham at the moment.

Despite the Hammers being likely to sign him this summer, they need to do everything they can in order to avoid snapping him up.

He’s a good young player, with very strong technical ability, talented left-foot and great pace, but he would just not be right for West Ham.

If you look at the positions that he can play, his favoured position is in central midfielder, where the London side are well stocked for next season. The likes of Jack Wilshere, Mark Noble, Pedro Obiang, Cheikhou Kouyaté, Edimilson Fernandes and Josh Cullen. There is simply no way he would get the game time he wants in that position.

He can also play at left-back but with Aaron Cresswell and Arthur Masuaku, Manuel Pellegrini has two very strong options for that position and has no need to strengthen in that area.

Even if he was to play higher up the pitch, he would be competing with Andriy Yarmolenko, Felipe Anderson, Marko Arnautovic, Robert Snodgrass, Michail Antonio and Manuel Lanzini (when fit).

The 21-year-old, who currently earns £20,000-per-week at The Etihad (Spotrac), clearly has ability and excellent potential to improve, but there seems no reasonable explanation as to why Pellegrini’s side would spend a moderately high transfer fee on a player who just won’t play.
