West Ham are reportedly keen on Manchester City youngster Brahim Diaz, but the club should ditch those plans and look elsewhere to replace the recently injured Manuel Lanzini.

Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini needs to try bring in some extra creativity in the summer transfer window and it would be too much of a burden to shift the responsibility onto an experienced 18-year-old.

The Sun reports that Pellegrini wants to sign teenager Diaz from his previous employees Man City on a season-long loan.

However, the creator doesn’t quite look ready for senior football after failing to score or assist in 11 first-team appearances and may need another year of developing before he is ready for a loan switch.

West Ham should turn their attention to Chelsea creator Mason Mount and the English sensation would be a much better fit and stand a better chance of making an impact at the London Stadium in the 2018/19 campaign.

The 19-year-old attacking midfielder starred out on loan for Dutch top-flight club Vitesse Arnhem in the recent season, scoring 13 goals and supplying 10 assists in 40 appearances across all competitions.

He already has a wealth of experience at senior level and also European know-how that means he looks close to reaching Premier League football.

The Sun previously reported that QPR, Reading, Norwich, Sporting Lisbon and Werder Bremen have shown interest in his signature, with Chelsea unsure on if he needs another season out on loan or if he can go into the first team.

West Ham should try enter talks to land the playmaker ASAP to fend off competition from rivals and give him a year in the English top flight to prove himself.
