Reliable journalist Alan Nixon may have just dropped a huge hint on Twitter that West Ham could be Jack Wilshere’s next club after he confirmed he will be leaving Arsenal this summer.

The Sun reporter was asked whether the 26-year-old could return to Bournemouth after a previous loan spell with them, with the midfielder available on a free transfer when his contract expires with Arsenal at the end of June.

Nixon has responded on his personal Twitter account simply with two hammer emojis, something that is very strongly associated with Premier League outfit West Ham.

Wilshere’s next destination is still very much unclear at this point, but the Mirror previously reported that West Ham, Wolves and Everton have all offered the 34-time capped England international a solution for next season.

Meanwhile, Football London reports that he is a West Ham supporter as well as most of his family, but a deal seems “unlikely” as it stands.

OPINION

Nixon’s tweet is certainly an interesting one and a move to West Ham certainly seems a logical one, where he can be a first-team regular and get back to playing his best football. The creative playmaker has been recognised by most as one of the more technically gifted English footballers of the past decade, but a spate of injuries really have halted his career. He missed out on England’s 23-man World Cup squad this summer and it has now been confirmed he will end his 17-year stay with Arsenal. West Ham are crying out for some more creativity in the middle of the park and that is why they must hope Nixon’s hint has some actual substance behind it. The left-footed pass master has shown he can be a real force in the Premier League over the years and in the last two seasons has started to prove his fitness again.
