Serie A club Fiorentina are preparing a second attempt to sign West Ham midfielder Pedro Obiang after their initial bid was rejected, according to Football Insider.

The reliable news website claims that the Italian club want to sign the 24-year-old and that their opening offer for him was turned down by the Hammers.

It is understood that Fiorentina will return with a move for the Spanish enforcer this week and that Manuel Pellegrini’s side may consider selling him if they receive an appropriate offer.

Good move for West Ham?

Obiang was a regular starter in the recent season for West Ham when he was available and he should be kept at the London Stadium for the foreseeable future.

The midfield powerhouse has a strong balance to his game where he can offer the defensive cover, while he tries to support the attack too.

He can improve offensively under the guidance of Pellegrini and there is no reason why he can’t be a permanent feature in the starting XI next season.

Likely to happen?

West Ham have reportedly rejected one offer for Obiang already this summer and it will surely took a monumental bid to prize him away from London.

He has previously played in the Italian league with Sampdoria, but it would be somewhat of a surprise if he was to return to Serie A anytime soon.
