West Ham fans on social media heaped praise on attacker Javier Hernandez as he featured for Mexico against Germany in the World Cup on Sunday.

The current Hammers forward helped his nation record a memorable 1-0 win over Germany in their opening game of the tournament.

Hernandez may have not got the goal to get his side the victory but he was the creator of Hirving Lozano’s goal as he played him through on goal with a beautiful pass.

This moment in particular had Hammers fans drooling over Hernandez’s performance with one supporter tweeting that it was wonderful play by the 30-year-old and that this is why Manuel Pellegrini will want him as a key player next season.

Several fans took to Twitter to moan about David Moyes’ use of the forward in the 2017/18 campaign with several pointing the finger of blame at the Scottish manager for why Hernandez struggled at the club.

The experienced forward only managed eight goals in his debut season at the London Stadium after joining the club last summer from Bayer Leverkusen.

Clearly supporters after witnessing him feature for Mexico hope they will see him have a better 2018/19 campaign at the club under Pellegrini who has succeeded Moyes as manager.
