West Ham have been told to pay £7million by Swansea City for goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, according to The Sun.

The national newspaper claim that after having an offer in the region of £4.5million rejected for the goalkeeper, who has a salary of £50,000-a-week at the Swans (Source: Spotrac), the Hammers now know how much they need to pay.

The Sun report that Manuel Pellegrini wants to bring Fabianski to the London Stadium this summer with the club keen to replace Joe Hart who was only at the Hammers on loan last season.

OPINION

The position of goalkeeper was a huge problem for the Hammers last season and it’s one of the main issues that Pellegrini must address in the current transfer window. Swansea City are set to try and get as much money as they possible can out of their players departing and they will not budge. The Hammers now have to decide whether the 33-year-old is worth that sort of outlay or they need to quickly pursue another goalkeeper instead. The Sun’s report also shares that Alfie Mawson is still on Pellegrini’s wish-list but that is one name he should cross off his list. The Swans according to this update at least want £18million which is an insane amount to pay for the defender. The Hammers may have previously been willing to pay more for Mawson in the past but after suffering relegation the Swans are in no position to barter to that level of stubbornness. This means that Pellegrini should perhaps just welcome Fabianski if that’s the best goalkeeper he thinks he can get and leave defender Mawson in Wales.
