West Ham must ensure that defender Declan Rice’s future is sorted as soon as possible or a worrying scenario will develop.

The 19-year-old was one of the Hammers standout performers in their 2017/18 campaign as he wowed supporters in a lot of his 32 outings for the senior side across all competitions.

However as of yet despite successfully showing that he is a player worthy of the first-team, the club haven’t been able to successfully get him to put pen to paper on a new deal worthy of his talents.

The Sun worryingly reported on Thursday that due to a contract stand-off between Rice and the Hammers, Bournemouth as well as Crystal Palace were circling the young defender as they were considering making bids for him.

It’s easy to see that the Hammers’ failure to announce a new deal for their fantastic enforcer is going to continue to attract other teams to his services as they would love to have him at their club.

While Rice’s deal isn’t expiring this summer if the Hammers don’t get him to commit his future soon,  a worrying scenario will develop that will see teams attempt to lure him to them.

The only positive update on the defender’s situation came from a Sky Sports report on Thursday which delivered hope by claiming that talks were still ongoing between the Hammers and Rice.

Based on that report it seems like the London club are aiming to do the right thing by the defender but they must act fast to tie up a deal in order to stop a worrying scenario developing.
