Jack Collison claimed that Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere would be an unbelievable addition to West Ham’s squad as the 26-year-old has so much ability.

The former West Ham star, who featured 121 times for club, responded to a tweet asking whether the Hammers should swoop for Wilshere and shared that he thought it would be a good move.

Collison revealed his opinion, via his personal Twitter account, shortly after Wilshere revealed, as reported by the BBC, that he was leaving the Gunners when his contract expired at the end of June.

OPINION

Collison was a fan favourite during his time at the Hammers but his opinion on Wilshere will divide supporters. Wilshere, whose expiring contract currently sees him earn £110,000-a-week (As stated by the Telegraph in May), has a terrible injury record to take into consideration. The 26-year-old dazzled at the Emirates Stadium in his 2017/18 campaign and was finally able to stay fit enough to make an impressive, for him, 38 appearances for the senior side across all competitions. However given the kind of wage he will want to join the Hammers, he would be a huge gamble. It’s hard to argue with Collison’s view that Wilshere has so much ability but he is ignoring the midfielder’s painfully obvious flaw. While the cultured midfielder may have turned a corner in regards to his injury woes, Manuel Pellegrini doesn’t seem the sort to make expensive gambles and that is exactly what signing the midfielder would be.
