West Ham United are ready to firm up their interest in Norwich City star James Maddison, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper report that the Hammers have been keeping tabs on the 21-year-old recently, and are now ready to convert their offer into a more formal expression of interest.

The Mirror claim that the Irons are extremely keen on the £25million-rated playmaker, who is said to be recovering well from a knee ligament injury suffered on the final day of the 2017/18 season.

It is said that West Ham are to face serious competition from Everton and Leicester, with Fulham also showing interest.

Good move for West Ham?

Absolutely.

Maddison lit up the Championship with his performances for the Canaries in 2017/18, scoring 15 goals and registering 11 assists in all competitions.

The 21-year-old looks ready for a step up in competition this summer, and West Ham would do well to win the packed race for his signature.

The only issue here is price, with £25million looking to be a hefty price tag considering Maddison has had just one outstanding season in the second tier.

Likely to happen?

It looks as though the Hammers are increasingly keen on Maddison this summer, but Everton also look to be closing in on tabling an offer for the 21-year-old.

West Ham will have to move quickly if they want any chance of snapping Maddison up, while there is also the potential for a bidding war which would drive the price up.

We should find out in the coming days how serious the Hammers are about signing the exciting youngster.
