West Ham have made a concrete offer for OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to Tuttomercatoweb.

The Italian football outlet claim that the French side have received a concrete offer from the Hammers and that has seen them become the closest to signing the in-demand 26-year-old.

Tuttomercatoweb report that Seri is keen on the idea of joining Napoli as he really likes manager Carlo Ancelotti with the Italian club having him high on the shortlist of players they’re looking at.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes, even though the amount they have bid is unknown.

The Hammers were reported to be in the race for Seri’s signature earlier this month, by the Daily Mirror, with Manchester City and Arsenal also keen to sign the midfielder.

Seri would be a fantastic signing by Manuel Pellegrini to make as the 26-year-old is a certified assist king after registering 23 assists in 123 outings for Nice.

Seven of those assists came in the 31 league appearances he made for the French side in his 2017/18 campaign and it’s clear that due to his passing ability, he would be a force to be reckoned with in the Premier League.

Likely to happen?

As it stands the Hammers appear to be in pole position to sign Seri as this report claims that are clearly the closest to getting him as they have actually submitted an offer.

However Seri clearly has his heart set on going to Napoli at the moment and will need convincing that the London Stadium is the right platform for the next stage of his career.

The Premier League side are more than capable of convincing the classy midfielder that this is the case but they probably need to use the allure of working under Pellegrini to get a deal done.

As there is no word on whether the Hammers’ offer is going to be rejected, there is still a very good chance that Seri will end up at another club.
