West Ham want to close a deal for OGC Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to a Gazetto dello Sport journalist.

Nicolo Schira, who regularly breaks news via their personal Twitter account, tweeted on Thursday to share that the Hammers were currently in talks with the French club in order to finalise a 40 million euros (£35.1million) deal for the midfielder.

The trusted journalist also shared that the Hammers had offered Seri a five-year contract.

Good move for West Ham?

Yes.

Seri is a pass master and regularly carved his opponents open in his 2017/18 campaign with his sublime passing ability and he would be a revelation at the London Stadium.

The 26-year-old played 43 times in his latest campaign and aside from passing looked like a powerful presence for a side to have in their midfield.

Seri ended the 2017/18 season having registered seven assists in his 31 league appearances for Nice and he would soon create countless chances for the Hammers’ front line next season if he arrived.

Also while there is a clause to see the £35.1million deal accepted, it will still be a blinding bit of business by the Hammers despite the huge price.

Likely to happen?

Yes, with talks ongoing this deal has a real chance of happening.

Aside from the fact that Schira is a reliable source of information, Tuttomercatoweb reported on Wednesday that the Hammers had made a concrete offer for the midfielder and there is no smoke without fire.

While Tuttomercatoweb’s report revealed that Italian giants Napoli were in the race for the assist king’s signature it seems the Hammers are working hard to complete a deal before they have a chance to make an official bid for the player’s services.

There still seems to be a little bit of work to do and the player’s stance regarding a move to Hammers is unknown, however this potential move is definitely on the cards as it stands.
