West Ham are “hopeful” of adding to their whirlwind of new signings with the capture of Lazio attacker Felipe Anderson, according to a club insider.

The Ex-WHU Employee Twitter account, which consistently breaks news ahead of the mainstream media, claim the Hammers are working hard on a deal to prise the one-time Brazil international from the Serie A big hitters but it is not done yet.

Asking in an exchange with a fan if Anderson would be a West Ham player soon, Ex-WHU Employee replied he was “hopeful” rather than “confident” that will be the case.

OPINION

With the Ryan Fredericks and Issa Diop signings confirmed, and Lukasz Fabianski to shortly follow, it has been an impressive few weeks of transfer business for West Ham. They have set their stall out early to rejuvenate the equal-worst defence in the Premier League last season. But the Hammers are also short of star quality further up the pitch, especially with Manuel Lanzini most probably out for the entirety of next season. Anderson would be a mighty fine signing, although the numbers being talked about would comfortably eclipse the £22million spent on Diop. Reports in Italy have stated that Lazio want £30million-plus for the 25-year-old right-sided forward as well as a sell-on clause, and it is the negotiations on these key details which have prompted the on-off nature of the transfer. No one knows West Ham’s transfer movements better than Ex-WHU Employee and his stance is an excellent gauge on where the deal currently stands.
