West Ham have reportedly submitted a £33.3million bid for Lazio wide man Felipe Anderson – and fans have mostly delivered positive verdicts on Twitter.

The Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport claimed in its print edition on Monday that the Hammers’ offer for the Brazil international has been rejected by the Serie A side.

Gazzetta report that Lazio are holding out for a further £10.7million for Anderson and have no intention of allowing him to leave for less than their £44million price tag.

Anderson missed the first half of the recently completed season due to injury but made a big impact after his lengthy lay-off as Lazio challenged hard for a Champions League spot before ultimately missing out.

He scored eight goals and provided 10 assists from 32 matches to lift his tallies since signing in 2013 to 34 goals and 42 assists from 177 appearances in all competitions.

The Hammers’ bid is way in excess of the club’s transfer record, which was set with the £24million capture of Marko Arnautovic from Stoke City last summer.

West Ham fans are excited by the calibre of the 25-year-old, hailing him as “quality” and urging the club to “get the deal done”, but others were sceptical of the timing of  a potential deal as the club look to sell season tickets.
