West Ham fans were divided over what to make of Javier Hernandez failing to comment on his future to the club in a recent interview.
The 29-year-old centre-forward was asked about his future at the London Stadium during a press conference ahead of Mexico’s game against Wales in Los Angeles on Tuesday morning and was very coy on the subject.
“Of course I am a West Ham player still, but we’ll see,” said Hernandez, as quoted by ITV.
“Right now what can I tell you? I’m glad there’s a new manager? I’m sad there’s a new manager?
“It’s not the moment to speak about this. My mind is 100 per cent on the World Cup.”
While one Hammers fan was quick to say on Twitter that there was nothing in the comments as he was right to focus on his nation ahead of the World Cup, other supporters weren’t so convinced.
One tweeted that they couldn’t blame him for the remarks after being benched by former boss David Moyes as that would break any man, while another suggested if he didn’t want to be at the club, he could leave.
The attacker only arrived at the Hammers last summer and featured 33 times for the London side in his debut season.
Despite playing in over 30 games for the Hammers, Hernandez managed to score only eight goals and found himself become not a guaranteed starter at the club.
However the Hammers appointed Manuel Pellegrini as their new manager on Tuesday, confirmed by the club’s official site, which could change the forward’s role in the team.
Forever West Ham have rounded up some of the best tweets about Hernandez’s performance:
Can't blame him. Being benched by Moyes twice in life would break any man. But we need him RT @Sam_InkersoleTM: Javier Hernandez here, not exactly filling us with confidence regarding his future at West Ham. https://t.co/KaA9qZMtN8

Quite honestly I like him but the way he conducts himself sometimes is to stroppy for me. After WC if your not on board then move him on. Lots of wages that could be spent on another quality forward.

Hopefully will have a cracking world cup and then either be back in team or sold for £s

That’s what happen when you treat a quality international poorly and have a personal vendetta against him.

Sounds like someone focussed on World Cup and passing no comment, nothing to see here people
