West Ham are in the process of appointing a new manager to replace the outgoing David Moyes, and the new boss will have to get to work immediately with the summer transfer window now open.

The ultra-competitive nature of the Premier League means that clubs will have to work fast to snap up bargain deals that emerge in the coming weeks, and West Ham must seize upon one that has already surfaced.

According to The Sun, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho is plotting a £100million clear-out this summer as he looks to overhaul a squad that failed to win a trophy this season.

Among those on the chopping block at Old Trafford is Netherlands international defender Daley Blind, who has found himself on the periphery at the club this season.

The Sun claim that Blind is rated around £14million by the Red Devils, with the 28-year-old having played just 17 times in all competition this season.

The reasons behind his falling out of favour under Mourinho are unknown, but Blind has always been a consistent performer in the Premier League and West Ham must plot a swoop for him in the coming weeks.

The Netherlands international’s biggest asset is his versatility, and he would be able to provide the Hammers with cover at centre-back, left-back and defensive midfield.

These are all positions which the club could have used more cover in this season, and Blind’s consistency will see him put in accomplished displays in each area.

His Premier League experience with United is also a massive bonus, with Blind having starred in 90 top-flight games for United since his move from Ajax four years ago.

The fact that Blind is rated at just £14million by United means that a move for Blind is a no-brainer for several Premier League clubs, and West Ham must move fast to make sure they win the race for his signature this summer.
