West Ham fans will have been angered this week by reports that Chelsea could share the London Stadium with the Hammers while the redevelopment of Stamford Bridge goes ahead, due to the potential sale of Wembley.

While the east London side are said to be confident they can veto a deal, Football.London reports that the London Stadium’s operators would consider letting Chelsea play their matches in the home of the 2012 Olympics.

The Blues are looking for a temporary home for the 2020/21 season, with redevelopment of Stamford Bridge potentially taking as long as four years, and The London Legacy Development Corporation confirmed they would consider housing Chelsea at the London Stadium.

“Any approach for a ground share at the London Stadium would be considered on its merits. West Ham United’s fixtures in the stadium have primacy over other uses as this is a requirement of Premier League rules. Any ground share arrangement would require Premier League approval and so necessarily the cooperation of West Ham.”
