West Ham are planning to sit down for talks with Unai Emery and Paulo Fonseca about taking over as manager this week, according to the Mirror.

The newspaper report that David Moyes will not be offered a new contract to stay on as Hammers boss, and the club have now begun their search for a replacement.

The Mirror claim that the club are planning talks with Emery, who has just left PSG despite a league and cup double this season, and Shakhtar Donetsk boss Fonseca.

OPINION

It was Sky Sports who first reported on Monday that Moyes was now unlikely to remain as Hammers boss after holding unsuccessful talks with the club hierarchy. That news came as a bit of a shock after the Hammers’ brilliant second-half of the season, with their win over Everton on Sunday propelling them to a 13th-placed finish. The Scot has done the job he was brought in for, but that does not look to be enough to keep the position. In terms of his successors, both Emery and Fonseca would be intriguing appointments. Emery was highly successful as Sevilla boss, leading them to three successive Europa League triumphs, but has disappointed in many ways at PSG despite a good season. Fonseca is a bit more of an unknown quality, with the Portuguese only having managed Shakhtar recently. He has done a good job there, but how challenging is the Ukrainian league exactly? There is undoubtedly talent there, but Fonseca would be a bit more of a risk than Emery considering their relevant experience.
