West Ham boss David Moyes is known to be looking to bolster his midfield options at the London Stadium this summer, as he eyes a recruit with Premier League experience to improve the club’s spine.

The Hammers failed with numerous approaches for permanent deals in January, instead settling on loaning Joao Mario from Inter Milan, but the quest for additional recruits this summer has led to plenty of names being linked.

Amongst those is Burnley midfielder Steven Defour, who is currently in Belgium recovering from a knee injury and hopes to be selected as part of Roberto Martinez’s squad for the upcoming World Cup in Russia.

He’s done plenty of media duties in the meantime and hasn’t ruled out a potential transfer to West Ham when quizzed about the Hammers interest, with SportWitness citing him as stating:

“At the moment I can’t really say anything about it. For a transfer everything must go through Burnley. I still have a contract for a year plus option (the further year). If they categorically say no, then it is no. But I am happy in Burnley and had a good season there.”
