West Ham boss David Moyes has made no secret of his desire to improve his midfield options at the London Stadium, having failed to strengthen his ranks with a permanent addition in January.

It remains to be seen whether the Hammers will move to make Joao Mario’s loan stint in east London from Inter Milan permanent and a wealth of other targets have been linked with a move – including an England international.

The Telegraph has handed West Ham a boost in their pursuit of Chelsea’s Danny Drinkwater, as it’s stated Financial Fair Play regulations could force the Blues into a wealth of sales and the former Leicester City man is one of the favourites to be moved on.

Drinkwater only moved to Stamford Bridge last summer but has struggled to earn regular opportunities in Antonio Conte’s side, with the 28-year-old starting just five Premier League matches this season – earning a further seven appearances off the bench.
