West Ham could appoint Manuel Pellegrini as their next manager within the next 48 hours, according to Claret and Hugh.

The reliable Hammers news website claims that the 64-year-old is set for talks on Monday evening with the club, while the finer details could be agreed on Tuesday.

It is understood that the Irons are lining up a three-year contract for the Chilean manager and he could earn £10million-a-year.

The report further details that co-owner David Sullivan has “promised” to take a step back from his Director of Football role, with Pellegrini set to run the club’s transfer dealings and he is likely to bring in his own Head of Recruitment.

OPINION

Pellegrini appears to be closing in as David Moyes’ successor at the London Stadium and supporters will hope he can implement an attractive style of football. His previous experience in England ended with a Premier League title at Manchester City and he is a very experienced boss with some pedigree. The most exciting development is that Sullivan is now set to take step away from dealings and that will give Pellegrini every possibility to make big changes at the club. His mega £10million-a-year package will make him the most paid manager in the club’s history and he will need to deliver on the pitch as a result. West Ham fans will surely be willing to get behind Pellergini ahead of next season if he is appointed and will be expecting a wave of new signings. The Hammers desperately need to improve their backline if they are to compete for the European spots next season, while they could also do with some more firepower in attack.
