West Ham fans on social media were fuming after Georgie Bingham tweeted that James Collins had been released by the club via email.

The talkSPORT host made the huge claim, via her personal Twitter account, stating that her co-host Tony Cascarino had it on good authority that the Hammers mainstay had been released by the club, without ceremony or tribute, and that the defender had been informed of his future via email.

Bingham’s tweet about Collins saw Hammers fans take to Twitter to quickly reply to her, in order to share their disgust if the news was actually true.

One Hammers supporter tweeted that their club had no class anymore, while another just stated that it just showed the board’s complete incompetence.

Collins’ current Hammers contract is set to end in June, yet there has been no official word from the club whether he is to depart or be offered a new deal as of yet.

The 34-year-old enforcer featured 16 times for his side in the recently concluded season, and even managed to get on scoresheet during the 3-3 draw with Bournemouth on Boxing Day.

Collins spent four-years at the Hammers between 2005 and 2009, before leaving to join Aston Villa, however he swiftly returned to the club in 2012, where he has remained ever since.
