West Ham captain Mark Noble has honestly admitted that there needs to be big changes made at the club this summer, but claimed that he is ‘convinced’ it will happen.

The Hammers have endured a tough second season at the London Stadium with the sacking of Slaven Bilic and a relegation battle being marred by fan unrest and anger at the board.

West Ham have now secured their Premier League status for another season after a 2-0 win over Leicester at the weekend, and talisman Noble has now turned his attention towards the summer, giving a brutally honest assessment of the months ahead.

As quoted by the Evening Standard, he said: “There needs to be a lot of change. I would not say no to that, on and off the pitch. A lot of stuff needs to change. I am really hoping, and I am convinced it will during the summer.

“If fans are coming to games and are not happy and we go 1-0 down then we feel that. There is no point lying.

“We need to win games and we have not won enough this season. That is why we are where we are. It’s been really tough, I certainly don’t want another one like this.”

OPINION

It is clear for all to see that massive, sweeping changes must be made at West Ham this summer. Ideally in many fans’ minds that will involve a change of owners, but that looks highly unlikely to happen. The first issue to sort out will be the future of manager David Moyes, with the fanbase seemingly split in their opinion of him. The Scot has looked invincible at points this season, but then his side have disappointed again to place his future in doubt. In truth, Moyes has done exactly what he was brought in to do – keep the Irons up. That should be enough to see him offered a new deal, but rumours seem to suggest that is not a given at the moment. If he is handed a new contract, attention will turn to transfers, with the Hammers squad in dire need of a revamp in several key areas.
