Joao Mario’s agent is set to contact West Ham over a possible summer move after a successful loan spell at the London Stadium from Inter Milan, according to FCInterNews.it.

The Italian news website claims that agent Kia Joorabchian is trying to help the 25-year-old move away from Inter ahead of next season.

It is understood that both Manchester United and Valencia have been contacted about taking the Portugal international.

The report details that Inter want to secure a sale in the region of £22million-£26million, but his form at the World Cup may impact his price tag.

West Ham are likely to be contacted next regarding playmaker Mario, but the report claims the decision of the new manager will be vital.

Reliable Twitter Hammers account ExWHUemployee reports that Manuel Pellegrini is in line to become the next West Ham manager and a deal could be finalised on Monday.

Good move for West Ham?

Mario endured a mixed time during his loan spell with the Hammers in the second half of the season and it was only in the final few weeks that he really started to impress.

The advanced midfielder showed glimpses of his quality and could continue building his partnership alongside the likes of Manuel Lanzini and Marko Arnautovic next season.

However, his price tag should be a bit of a concern for the club and it would be a risk to fork out over £20million for him.

Likely to happen?

Pellegrini will have his own ideas of transfer targets if he is to become the next West Ham manager and it’s completely unclear whether or not he would be willing to make the high-profile addition of Mario.
