West Ham host Manchester United on Thursday night in the Premier League and Mark Lawrenson has predicted a draw between the sides.

The Hammers know that their top-flight status is secure for another season after they won away at Leicester in their last game.

David Moyes’ side finish the campaign with back-to-back home matches against Man United and Everton.

BBC pundit Lawrenson has tipped West Ham to draw 1-1 at the London Stadium against Man United, who have an FA Cup final with Chelsea on the horizon.

“West Ham are safe now too after their win at Leicester on Saturday, which was a massive result for them and means the pressure is off in this game,” Lawrenson wrote in his column for BBC Sport.

“Manchester United were ordinary in their defeat by Brighton on Friday, which is why I felt a bit sorry for Marcus Rashford when Jose Mourinho criticised him afterwards.”

OPINION

West Ham can now enjoy their final two matches after securing Premier League football for another season with an impressive display in the 2-0 win at Leicester. The Hammers were dragged right back into the mix for relegation, but their senior players have turned up at key moments to keep them alive for another year. They can have a free swing at their remaining two fixtures and would love to end the season on a positive in front of their home fans. Upcoming opponents Man United slipped to a 1-0 away defeat to Brighton in their last game and shouldn’t strike fear into West Ham ahead of Thursday night. Moyes’ side have the firepower to hurt them going forward and it will be a good test to try keep Man United’s attacker at bay too. One thing for sure is that West Ham need to try make their home ground a fortress if they are to be successful next year and can try lay down a marker this week.
