West Ham midfielder Moses Makasi has seen his loan spell with Plymouth Argyle come to a premature end, with the club’s official website confirming he has returned to east London.

The central midfielder made seven appearances for the Pilgrims during his time in League One, scoring on his debut appearance, and helped the club fight into a playoff position- although they’ve now slipped out of the top six.

With two games in hand on their promotion-chasing rivals, Plymouth still have hopes of success this season but they’ll have to achieve it without the 22-year-old, who returned to West Ham to have surgery on his knee.

His spell on-loan gave him his first taste of senior football and he’ll hope to impress David Moyes upon his recovery, seeking chances at West Ham for the new campaign and looking to follow in the footsteps of Declan Rice into the senior squad.

Prior to his loan stint, Makasi featured in three Checkatrade Trophy group games for the Hammers this term.
