West Ham are poised for major changes this summer and a number of those alterations could come from within defence, where veteran central defender James Collins is rapidly approaching the end of his contract.

The Welsh international has previously spoken about his desire to remain at the London Stadium but, with just a few months remaining on his contract, it’s highly unlikely that he’ll be offered that opportunity.

However, Claret & Hugh report the long-serving West Ham defender is keen to remain in England’s capital, which will likely lead to fresh rumours of a move across the Premier League to Brighton- who were attracted to the 34-year-old in January.

Whether the Seagulls return this summer remains to be seen, especially as Collins will turn 35 before the new campaign, and a drop down the divisions is more likely, handing the likes of QPR, Brentford and Charlton Athletic a potential opportunity.

Collins has played 187 league matches for West Ham but has remained sidelined through injury in recent weeks.
