West Ham’s quest to avoid relegation sees the Hammers face a tough test this weekend against Premier League champions Manchester City, where David Moyes side could find themselves in a precarious position.

The east London side currently sit six points above the relegation zone with four matches remaining, putting them within touching distance of securing their top-flight status, but work still needs to be done.

Ahead of the clash, Inter Milan loanee Joao Mario has issued a rallying cry to his side by stating that this is a chance for the club to prove their ability. Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:

“We’re up against a hard team on Sunday and it is not going to be an easy game, but we’re at home and we’re going to try, with our fans behind us, [to get a result].”

“Everyone enjoys watching the way Manchester City play. They have amazing football players and they are an incredible team. This is when you can show your quality, playing against big teams. We will try to find the space and do our best.”

Mario is battling for a potential permanent switch to the London Stadium, with it clear his time at Inter Milan is coming to a close.
