West Ham may not have mathematically secured their Premier League status just yet but the six-point advantage that the Hammers hold over their relegation rivals has given David Moyes room to start preparations for the summer window.
Moyes is eyeing significant improvements to his defensive line this summer and The Daily Star states that two Premier League defenders top the Scottish boss’ transfer list this summer, as he seeks a move to bolster his options at the back.
Swansea City centre-back Alfie Mawson and Brighton’s Lewis Dunk are said to be Moyes’ preferred options in the summer, although the Hammers will not finalise their transfer plans until their top-flight status is secure.
Both Mawson and Dunk were linked with a move to West Ham in January, although nothing came of their interest in the mid-season, but the situation could change this summer with David Sullivan ready to issue a bumper transfer kitty to the former Manchester United boss.
