West Ham are looking for a major overhaul this summer to improve their underperforming side and a lot of movement could be made in defensive areas, where the Hammers have lacked stability.

David Moyes’ side have also seen a number of injury issues to their defensive line this season, with Winston Reid and James Collins both currently on the sidelines, and the departure of Jose Fonte in February has left the Hammers lacking significant depth.

The Hammers will look to change that this summer and The Sun states the east London outfit are eyeing a £15m swoop to lure Newcastle United captain Jamaal Lascelles away from Tyneside.

24-year-old Lascelles has been a stand-out performer for Rafael Benitez’s side in the last two seasons, helping the club to secure a return to the Premier League and fight to retain their top-flight status, but he could be tempted to move to the London Stadium.

West Ham would be able to offer a better financial deal and the chance for Lascelles to force his way into the England reckoning, with Gareth Southgate so far overlooking the former Nottingham Forest man.
