West Ham are set for a major recruitment drive this summer as they seek to improve upon what has been a disappointing period for the club at the London Stadium.

The Hammers are sitting just three points above the relegation zone heading into the final two months of the campaign and David Moyes has made it clear he wants to bolster his midfield ranks in the transfer market.

One man linked with a move to West Ham is Anderlecht’s Belgian international Leander Dendoncker, who was linked with a move to east London in January, but he’s instead been urged to consider a different Premier League switch.

Former Newcastle United defender Philippe Albert has told Belgian outlet Het Nieuwsblad that Dendoncker should reject a move to West Ham and should instead wait for an opportunity to move to Tottenham Hotspur.

“In a few years, he’ll be a great defender. He isn’t yet. He’s paid well by Anderlecht, and he shouldn’t just go to England to end up at Everton or West Ham. That would only improve him financially.”

“Let Dendoncker stay two or three years more and he can go to a real top club like Tottenham or even Manchester United at the age of 25,”

The 22-year-old is battling for a spot in Belgium’s World Cup squad, though he admitted in January he was disappointed that a major transfer did not occur.
