West Ham have struggled to find consistency this season and have slipped down the Premier League table despite an initial upturn in form under the guidance of David Moyes, with the Hammers now sat just three points above the relegation zone.

Moyes’ contract with the east London side expires at the end of the season and, whilst he’s expected to renew, the Scottish boss has made it clear he won’t discuss his future until the Hammers’ Premier League status has been secured.

Finding the right manager to lead the Hammers to success in the long-term is certainly going to be a difficult challenge but one former player has spoken about his intention to return to the club later down the line, as he eyes a managerial role.

Speaking to FourFourTwo, former Chelsea and West Ham man Joe Cole stated his dream was to manage either of the London clubs.

“My long-term plans are to coach or manage – I am doing my A License and really enjoying that side of things. They (West Ham & Chelsea) would be dream jobs for a lot of people, but I’ve got plenty of steps to take before I get anywhere near that level.”

“I’m gaining experience and don’t know where I’ll end up just yet. There are hundreds of roles within a football club, from director of football down to academy roles. But for every player if you love football, you’d love to be manager of England, Chelsea or West Ham.”
