West Ham are plotting a busy few days to end their January transfer window, with the Hammers yet to bring in additional recruits.

That looks set to change imminently as David Moyes’ side edge closer to the capture of Joao Mario on-loan from Inter Milan but it appears that the Scottish boss is not yet done with his quest to bolster his midfield ranks.

The Guardian reports that the Hammers have made a £12m bid to sign Norwich City midfielder James Maddison, who has impressed with the Canaries this season after scoring seven goals.

Moyes was in attendance at Stamford Bridge last week to watch Maddison and his Norwich side in action against Chelsea in an FA Cup third round replay, where the Blues won on penalties, and West Ham saw enough to make their interest known.

The 21-year-old has attracted a host of interest from Premier League clubs this season, including that of Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool, which means that Norwich are likely to hold out for more than the initial £12m offered by the Hammers.

A deal could be concluded if the offer from Moyes’ side is raised, though it remains to be seen whether West Ham would be willing to improve their bid.
