West Ham face a crucial few weeks as the January transfer window edges towards a conclusion, with David Moyes still having a lot of work to do as he seeks to rejuvenate his squad.

Despite it being clear for a while that the Hammers are seeking additional recruits in January, and also want to offload those within their ranks that are surplus to requirements, there has so far been no movement on either front.

That’s likely to change in the weeks ahead, with The Telegraph stating that Premier League champions Chelsea have approached West Ham regarding the services of Andy Carroll.

The experienced striker’s name has regularly appeared with links to the Blues in recent weeks, with Antonio Conte looking to provide cover for Alvaro Morata, but a major shift seems to have occurred in West London.

Chelsea were originally linked with a loan swoop, which West Ham were not prepared to agree, but reports now state that the Blues regarding a permanent sale- and would be prepared to match the Hammers’ £20m valuation.

That money would then go into West Ham’s own transfer kitty, with Moyes seeking the services of a reliable goalscorer to improve his attacking options.
