West Ham look set for a busy finale to the January transfer window, as David Moyes seeks to complete pieces of business that will bolster his side for the relegation battle that lies ahead.

The Hammers are yet to conclude a deal to bring a new player in at the London Stadium this month but are reportedly edging closer to landing Joao Mario from Inter Milan, in what would represent a significant coup.

Moyes is likely to seek further business though and reports have suggested that the club are ready to listen to offers for Mexican striker Javier Hernandez, who has failed to impress since returning to the Premier League for £16m last summer.

The Chronicle now adds that Newcastle United are keen on the former Manchester United man, although Rafael Benitez doesn’t anticipate being able to conclude a deal as he predicts deals between fellow relegation rivals will not go ahead.

West Ham have been interested in Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey but the Magpies have made it clear they will not sanction a departure to a fellow relegation threatened side, which makes it highly unlikely that the Hammers would approve an exit for Hernandez.
