West Ham face a busy final week ahead as they seek to bolster their ranks for the relegation battle that lies in front of the Hammers and David Moyes’ side have been issued a blow on the market.
Anderlecht midfielder Leander Dendoncker is one of many names being linked with a switch to East London late in this January window but it’s becoming increasingly apparent that the Belgian side do not want to do business.
The 22-year-old international is highly-rated on the continent, attracting interest from a number of top sides, but Anderlecht are determined to retain the youngster’s services and have made it clear only a huge offer will tempt them into a sale.
Speaking to L’Avenir, Anderlecht general manager Herman Van Holsbeeck said:
“Unless there is a huge amount of money, they won’t leave. We are not going to sell our best players when we still have a small chance to win the league.”
It’s therefore highly unlikely that the Hammers will be able to tempt their continental counterparts into a deal and other midfield targets are likely to be chased.
