West Ham have enjoyed a fine upturn in form in recent weeks and now sit above the Premier League’s relegation zone, following a run of victories over Chelsea and Stoke City- wins that came either side of a goalless draw with Arsenal.

David Moyes has led his side valiantly though, getting the best out of players like Marko Arnautovic, but he’s still looking to strengthen his side in January as the battle to avoid a drop down to the Championship continues.

Defence seems to be his priority in the New Year and he’s reportedly eyed a prime target from a rival Premier League side, with The Guardian stating that West Ham are plotting a bid worth £20m for Swansea City centre-back Alfie Mawson.

The England U21 international has been one of the few shining lights for Swansea in a season where they’ve struggled to perform, currently rooted to the bottom of the Premier League standings and recently axing manager Paul Clement.

The general consensus is that Swansea are a sinking ship, whereas West Ham seem to have steadied themselves into calmer waters.
